Career Fair Tabling

Description

Giving our members the opportunity to volunteer in events that we participate in like our Dedman Career Fair, has allowed them to feel more like they belong and has increased participation in other areas. Our members have built rapport with each other and feel more confident in using our chapter as a resource to advance their professional development!

Implementation

We spoke to our Career Fair Event Planner and asked to reserve a table (booth) next to other companies. Once we got that approved, we began to create flyers with QR codes to make it easier for students to join. We included sign-up sheets, promoted upcoming events and even spread-out swag to get people's attention. We sent a volunteer sign-up sheet through our GroupMe chat and set a rotating schedule. Our members LOVED this initiative because it gave them a safe space to decompress and give them a break from talking to recruiters. Our volunteer members were equipped to give advice to our underclassmen who were at the career fair for the first time and also give peptalks to our senior members who were hoping to lock in post-grad opportunities. Overall, this effort helped our members build their confidence as they practiced their elevator speeches with us and prepare them to talk with recruiters.
