Be Sure to Complete Your BMI Surveys
If you have recently attended a Business Management Institute (BMI) program, please be sure to complete the individual session surveys. Simply open a session on the schedule and scroll down to the survey and click on it. The feedback you provide is valuable for the Professional Development Department. It guides improvements in the current programs as well as provides insights for future programming. In addition to the individual session surveys, there is an overall BMI survey to complete as well. CEO’s Perspective: Effective Listening
We have just finished the National Student Educational Conference in Washington, DC.  For me, this event provides an opportunity to mingle with the future of club management. It is also a time for me to listen and listen hard with an open mind about what is changing, what may be changing, and what should be changing to serve our future CMAA Professional members. Hearing comes naturally, but effective listening is a learned skill. Read more in this month’s CEO Blog.

Do You Know a Club Professional Who Could Benefit from CMAA Membership?
As 2017 winds down, so does the New Member Recruitment Contest. As we enter the home stretch, do you know anyone that could benefit from membership in CMAA? If so, there is no time to waste! Please let them know the benefits that you find so invaluable and encourage them to join!

So far, CMAA has welcomed 516 new members (as of October 31). We are at about 73 percent of our goal of welcoming 711 new members in 2017. Let’s keep on recruiting and meet our goal!

Check out to see where your chapter falls in the standings. Each new member makes an impact! Winning chapters will receive a $2,000 Education Grant from The Club Foundation. All chapters that reach their goals are entered in a drawing for a $1,000 Education Grant as well.

Thank you to all members who work hard to grow our beloved Association.

Stay Tuned in the Coming Weeks for Scholarship Announcements
The Club Foundation Allocation Committee (CFAC) has been busy this fall reviewing and evaluating scholarship applications. We’ve received more than double the usual number of applications for each of the fall scholarships. If you have applied for a scholarship, please know that the committee is taking its time to evaluate each application thoroughly and fairly. Announcements about recipients will be made in the coming weeks. Please stay tuned.

Wrapping Up the National Student Education Conference
Earlier this month, CMAA hosted 135 students and faculty in Washington, DC, for the National Student Education Conference (NSEC). Over the four-day event, student members had the opportunity to learn from local area managers, CMAA’s YoPros (Young Professionals), and visited some incredible clubs in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area. CMAA would like to give a big thank you to the teams at the Metropolitan Club, Chevy Chase Club, and Army Navy Country Club for their hospitality and effort in making this year’s NSEC one we won’t soon forget.
