2023 Vice Chairman

Joe Mendez, CCM, CCE

Joe Mendez, CCM (Certified Club Manager), CCE (Certified Chief Executive), was elected the Vice Chairman of the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) Board of Directors at its 2023 World Conference and Club Business Expo, held in Orlando, FL. Mendez was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2017.

Beginning in May, he is General Manager/COO at Doylestown Country Club in Doylestown, PA. Mendez most recently served as the General Manager/COO of Riverton Country Club. Prior to accepting that role in 2020, he served as the General Manager/COO of the Germantown Cricket Club and the General Manager/COO of Radley Run Country Club. He also served in three different positions including Assistant General Manager, Clubhouse Manager and Food & Beverage Director at Whitford Country Club in Exton, PA, from 2003-2006. He began his career in club management as the Dining Room Manager at The Union League of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, PA, in 2000.

Mendez first joined CMAA as a CMAA Student member in 1998 while enrolled at Widener University. He joined as a Professional member in 2003. He has volunteered on many national committees including the Chapter/Member Services, Communications, Bylaws, Professional Development, and Premier Club Services Committees. In 2022, Mendez served as the Chairman of the Audit Committee. In 2023, he will chair the Strategic & Organizational Culture Committee

On the chapter level, Mendez has been active in multiple roles within the Philadelphia & Vicinity Chapter and the Philadelphia Club Foundation. He currently serves on the PVCMA Board of Directors and the Philadelphia Club Foundation Board of Directors. He served as the Chairman of the National Student Education Conference in 2016, and as Co-Chairman of the event in 2010.

Outside of CMAA, Mendez has been active with the Exton Region Chamber of Commerce and the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce. He was recently installed on the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce Board. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Delaware, overseeing the Club Management Course.

As CMAA Vice Chairman, Mendez will work with the Board of Directors to collaborate with the membership, National Committees and Task Forces, Partners, and the National Headquarters team, to advance the club management profession and the greater industry.
