Vice President, Communications & Advocacy
Melissa Low, CAE
Melissa Low, CAE, is the Vice President, Communications & Advocacy. In this role, she leads the Association’s communications strategy, event marketing, media efforts, and grassroots and advocacy projects as part of the Membership Engagement team. She is the co-host with Kyle Jennings of the Let's Talk Club Management podcast.
Melissa directs the Association’s advocacy efforts and manages its member resource center, clubindustryvotes.org. For nearly 20 years, she has been engaged with the legislative, regulatory, and legal issues affecting the club industry. She is the author of the widely distributed Legislative Report (blog), a frequent contributor to Club Management and Boardroom magazines, and a presenter at the Business Management Institute (BMI) Club Management. In addition, Melissa currently serves as the President of the National Alliance for Accessible Golf, working to ensure opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Melissa joined CMAA in the fall of 2002. Previously, she worked on Capitol Hill as a Staff Assistant and Projects Caseworker and a Senate Page in the United States Senate. Melissa graduated from the College of Charleston cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration on the American political system. In 2019, Melissa earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation through the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and recertified in 2024.
Originally from Charleston, SC, Melissa lives in Springfield, VA, with her active, multi-generational family of five, one golden retriever, and two rescue cats. Melissa is an avid reader, retired runner, kayak enthusiast, Girl Scout volunteer, and devoted Washington Nationals and Commanders sports fan.
