Chapter Idea Fair
New Member Orientation
Ohio Valley Chapter
Entry Details
OVC has strengthened its onboarding by adding a virtual New Member Orientation that gives every new member a personal welcome and a direct connection to chapter leadership. Because the chapter spans four states, welcoming all new members in person is rarely possible, so the virtual format allows OVC to reach everyone. The orientation helps new members learn how to get the most from their membership, answers their questions about CMAA, and introduces them to peers and leaders early in their membership. It has deepened engagement, helped new members feel welcomed and connected from day one, and reinforced the relationship-driven culture that defines the chapter.
Implementation
Hosted bi-monthly by Membership Chair Chad Schultenover, CCM, CCE, along with Membership Committee members, board members, and the Managing Director, who join to make introductions and personal connections, the orientation helps new members get the most from their membership, answers their CMAA questions, and connects them to chapter peers. New members are invited three ways: by email, through the monthly newsletter, and by direct personal outreach. During each session, leaders welcome attendees, walk through chapter resources and opportunities to get involved, and open the floor for questions and networking.
Since launching, 19 new members have participated, and feedback has been consistently positive, with members valuing the personal welcome and the chance to connect with leadership right away.
