NCA Relocates Offices to CMAA National Headquarters
As of September 1, the National Club Association (NCA) will relocate its office to CMAA’s National Headquarters located at 1733 King Street in Alexandria, VA.
NCA has entered into a lease agreement with CMAA and will utilize underused space within the three-story Headquarters building. This mutually beneficial arrangement allows both Associations to optimize resources while maintaining separate and distinct operations and governance structures.
As outlined in the 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, CMAA continues to collaborate with NCA and other related industry organizations on governance-related programs and ways to enhance the relationship between club professionals and club board members. Further, CMAA is focusing on operating as a best practice association and continues to enhance and maintain its assets for future marketability.
Senate Passes No Tax on Tips Act
On May 20, the US Senate passed S129, the No Tax on Tips Act. The legislation creates a new federal income tax deduction for qualified tips. A notable 63.2 percent of clubs have transitioned away from traditional tipping models to service charges for member dining. However, clubs may soon find themselves reevaluating their approach. The bill will now head to the House of Representatives for consideration. The House passed a similar measure in the 2025 tax package.
What’s the Biggest Barrier to Attracting New Talent in the Golf Industry?
Bloom Golf Partners announced the release of its 2025 Workforce Trends in Golf National Research Study. The report provides an in-depth analysis of the evolving labor landscape, offering insights for golf course leaders aiming to attract and retain top talent in a competitive market. Six key findings are outlined in the study. The top finding is that the biggest barrier to attracting new talent is lack of exposure to the industry as a significant portion of the population has never visited a golf course.
With the growth of the game of golf, in combination with several economic and social impacts, Tyler Bloom, founder of Bloom Golf Partners, emphasized the study's significance. “The golf industry is at a crucial point to have a unified approach to tackle workforce challenges,” Bloom said. “This involves collaboration between golf course owners, operators, industry associations, and educational institutions to build awareness, improve recruitment strategies, and enhance career development programs.”
