Authorized Chapter Representative—CMAA provides each Chapter with one (1) complimentary registration for the Chapter President or other elected Chapter representative. Please note this offering is limited to CMAA Professional classification members only. This category includes education sessions, continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks, the Monday Networking reception, and Tuesday Networking Event, and all program materials.

2:30–3:30 p.m.	What Kills Innovation with Natalie Born Sometimes the most innovative ideas are buried, and they have to be surfaced. Oftentimes, what happens in meetings is people’s ideas get shut down. Someone laughs at them, calls them silly, or they tell them all the reasons that idea will not work. Worst yet someone yells out - “we’ve tried that before”. This can foster three reactions in a meeting depending on who is around the table: Fight - People fight harder for their ideas to be heard Freeze - People shut down and stop participating Flight - People find a way to work outside the system How do we change this dynamic that seems to happen so often in meetings? Join us to find out how to foster rapid innovation and collaboration within your Chapter.

8:00–10:30 a.m.	Leadership Address & Networking Activity with Dan Irvin Being intentional means setting a success framework that packs a serious punch in terms of keeping you and your team motivated and structured. The problem is that most of us fall short in that mission. In this presentation, you will learn how to sharpen your talents and be more intentional. Relatable insights include how to keep distractions from taking center stage, how to recognize when the same way of doing things doesn’t cut it anymore, and how to establish the SMARTEST goals. In the second part of this session, we will break into roundtables and discuss how we can take what we learned and apply it to our lives in a meaningful way.
10:45-11:45 a.m.	Legal and Staffing Update with Keith Pabian: Understanding the Landscaping of Hiring and Employing American and International Workers Staffing is one of, if not the biggest issues for clubs across the country. This session will lay out and discuss both the issues and solutions to this massive problem. Presented by Attorney Keith Pabian of Seasonal Connect and Pabian Law, the session will delve into the staffing struggles that clubs are experiencing, discuss strategies for addressing these challenges, and share best practices that your organization can employ. The session will further outline legal issues and challenges when employing international workers and discuss the pro’s and con’s of turning to an international workforce. These topics, and more, will be discussed with an eye toward understanding key trends and leveraging these in coming up with solutions to your organization's biggest staffing and operational struggles.
12:00–1:00 p.m.	Awards Lunch: Engage. Empower. Connect Celebrate the 2022 Chapter Idea Fair winners.
1:30–3:30 p.m.	Developing a Foresightly Perspective in The Turbulent Twenties with Jeff De Cagna, FRSA, FASAE As we approach Day 1,000 of The Turbulent Twenties, it is clear that a very different and more challenging future is unfolding before our eyes. To prepare for whatever comes next, CMAA's chapter leaders and other key contributors don't need to become futurists, but they must develop a "foresightly" perspective to become better at learning with the future. In this generative session, LLC participants will begin building a deeper understanding of six habits of mind they can adopt to navigate the growing uncertainty, volatility, and risk of an irrevocably-altered world. Learning Questions: What is the discontinuous next and why do CMAA contributors need to understand its implications? What are the foresightly perspective's six habits of mind, and how do they make it easier to learn with the future? How can LLC participants integrate a foresightly perspective into their lives, clubs, and Chapters?
3:45–5:15 p.m.	Industry Trends Panel Discussion Hear from the CMAA Partnership Network experts on current trends (supply chain, labor, general economics, automation, etc.) impacting the club industry.
6:00–10:00 p.m.	Networking Event at Nationals Park There’s no better way to celebrate America’s pastime than with an awesome tailgate party. Step up to the plate for an evening of networking at Nationals Park as the Washington Nationals take on the Baltimore Orioles in this Beltway battle. There’ll be good food, engaging conversation, and great baseball!

8:45–9:45 a.m.	Tax Update with Morgan Souza, RSM Hear important information clubs should know regarding tax updates and changes.
10:00–11:00 a.m.	Chapter Best Practices Panel Hear from the 2021 Chapter of the Year winners as they share their experiences with preparing their entries and what they are most proud of as a Chapter. Additionally, four Chapter Idea Fair entries will come to life and be presented. You will walk away from this session with ideas that you can take back to your Chapter and activate on immediately.
11:15 a.m.–12:30 p.m.	Legislative Address with David Wasserman Get an in-depth pre-election analysis from the US House Editor and Senior Election Analyst for the non-partisan Cook Political Report.

Important Information

The Mayflower Hotel is a capital classic freshly rendered, a landmark hotel that brings timeless elegance and contemporary style to its role as a vibrant social hub - a Washington, D.C. original since 1925. CMAA has arranged for a special rate of $299 plus applicable taxes. Check-in time is after 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 12:00 noon.

Please note that all scheduled business and education sessions will take place at The Mayflower Hotel, 1127 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20036.

Hotel Cancellation Policy: The hotel has a 72-hour cancellation policy which means that any cancellations must be processed more than 72 hours prior to the arrival date to avoid a late cancellation fee in the amount of one night’s room and tax.

CMAA makes every effort to keep attendee expenses at the Leadership/Legislative Conference including registration fees and accommodation rates for the event as economical as possible. We work diligently to negotiate the best hotel rates and to make the best use of your registration dollars to keep the Conference affordable and accessible.

CMAA encourages all participants to reserve a room at The Mayflower Hotel; this supports not only the Conference, but also future meetings. While in some instances, less expensive accommodations may be available from third party online consolidators, booking within CMAA’s established block helps to underwrite the cost of meeting space and other hotel concessions. When commitments to our host property are not met, CMAA must pay penalties which will ultimately increase the cost of events.

All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by the individual whose name appears on the registration. To be valid, submit all requests to CMAA Registration. No refunds will be made after Tuesday, August 23. CMAA regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows. Substitutions are gladly accepted; substitutions of registrations are permitted prior to the event. Only one substitution is permitted per original registrant. The individual submitting the substitution request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with the substitution. Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited.

Chapter Idea Fair

The purpose of the Chapter Idea Fair is for Chapters to share innovative ideas with each other in specific categories. This award program is presented at the annual Leadership/Legislative Conference (LLC). Winning chapters are recognized in various ways both at LLC and throughout the year. One chapter’s idea is recognized as "Best in Show" and will be awarded a $2,000 grant sponsored by The Club Foundation. New this year: One Chapter’s Idea will be recognized as the “Most Transferable Idea” and will be awarded a $1,000 grant sponsored by The Club Foundation.
