Learn to think outside the box, embrace change, and ignite innovation and reinvention. Whether grappling with change or seeking a spark of creativity, this program equips you with strategies to navigate challenges and fully realize your potential. 2025 Club Executive of the Year: Call for Nominations
Annually, Club Management magazine honors a high-performing club management professional who exemplifies excellence in leadership with the Club Executive of the Year Award. Created 40 years ago as the Club Manager of the Year Award, today the distinction specifically recognizes top-level executives whose sustained contributions have had a significant impact on their clubs, communities, and the broader profession.
Help us honor an extraordinary club management professional who raises the bar in club management and within the CMAA community. CMAA welcomes and encourages nominations from diverse backgrounds and work experiences.
Please review the full criteria, nomination packet requirements, judging process, and notification information available online. All nomination materials must be received by September 10.
Boost Your Spirit of Giving
Each year, more than one-third of CMAA members generously give to support scholarships and grants. This spirit of giving reflects a shared belief: our purpose extends beyond the now and is an investment in the growth and success of others and our industry.
Your donation makes a very real difference in our ability to fulfill the Club Foundation’s mission. In addition to one-time gifts, here are a few ways you can boost your impact:
- Make it Monthly
Recurring gifts provide steady, reliable support. Simply select “monthly” on our online donation form and choose any amount — even $5 per month adds up to create meaningful opportunities for scholarship and grant recipients. You can also fill out a pledge form for irregular pledge schedules and donating through an ACH transaction. - Give Stocks or Securities
Donating stocks or securities can help you avoid capital gains taxes while maximizing your tax deduction, allowing you to make an even bigger impact. - Leave a Legacy
Join our Legacy Society by including The Club Foundation in your will, trust, IRA, or insurance policy. Planned gifts help secure the future of scholarships and grants for generations to come. You can even make a commitment to support scholarships and grants well into the future. - Use Your Donor Advised Fund
Recommending a grant for The Club Foundation from your Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is an easy and flexible way to support the mission. Simply contact your DAF sponsor and request a contribution to The Club Foundation.
Together, we can power the future of leaders in our industry. Thank you for your continued generosity. Do you have questions? Contact us.
CMAA Announces 2025 Student Chapters of the Year
Each year, the Club Management Association of America (CMAA) honors three student chapters that exemplify excellence in leadership, engagement, and professional development. These chapters don’t just meet expectations, they redefine them. The 2025 Student Chapter of the Year award recipients represent the very best of what student engagement in club management can look like across three size categories.
This year’s honorees are:
- Large Chapter: California State Polytechnic University, Pomona
- Medium Chapter: Niagara University
- Small Chapter: University of Delaware
Winners of the Student Chapter of the Year award receive a trophy and a $1,000 grant from The Club Foundation. Just as important, these awards signal a chapter’s strong commitment to preparing the next generation of club management professionals.
As these student leaders look ahead to the next academic year—and to their future careers—they bring with them not only the honor of this recognition, but the responsibility to keep pushing the profession forward.
Congratulations to you all!

The ABCs of Music Licensing
The number of performing rights organizations has been growing in recent years. What are ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC? And what about GMR? Clubs must obtain a licensing fee to obtain the legal permission required to perform copyrighted music under the US Copyright Law. This includes live music performances and recorded music. Find out about your club’s responsibilities and how to take advantage of CMAA negotiated discounts in the Legislative Report blog.
