It’s Time to Cast Your CMAA Vote!

Voting is a significant CMAA Professional membership privilege. Please take a moment to review all the information you’ll need to vote in the 2023 CMAA Election. There’s a great slate of candidates who are prepared to serve the Association as well as five national Bylaw propositions for your consideration. Please consult the following information and vote:

Candidates

At its spring meeting, the CMAA Board of Directors approved the appointment of Richard LaRocca, CCM, CCE, as your 2023 Secretary-Treasurer. The official announcement to the membership was made during the 2022 Leadership/Legislative Conference (LLC) as well as via Outlook, social media, and related press releases.

Additionally, the national Nominating Committee met in August 2022 to prepare the slate of National Director candidates. For the 2023 CMAA Election, there are three, three-year terms and one, one-year term open. The number of candidates on the slate is equal to the number of vacancies on the Board. These candidates were presented during the business session at the 2022 LLC, where the slate was officially announced.

The candidates’ profiles can be found on our elections page.

CMAA Bylaws

A synopsis of the national Bylaw proposals you’ll see on the 2023 ballot is: Housekeeping issues to update the titling of the chief staff position to President & CEO, as well as modify the time of year the CMAA National Secretary-Treasurer position is determined (spring vs. summer CMAA Board meeting); a change to the chairmanship of the Budget & Finance Committee from the Vice Chairman to the Secretary-Treasurer; and lastly, a change to two standing committee names and charters – Bylaws Committee to Bylaw & Policy Committee, and Strategic Planning Committee to Strategic & Organizational Culture Committee. Background and rationale for each Bylaw amendment may be found on the CMAA website.

Long-Standing Members Recognized in 2022

The continued active participation of each Association member is key to CMAA’s future. Years ago, the CMAA Board of Directors established a Longevity Program to show their appreciation for the ongoing commitment of the men and women who have been members of the Association for 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60 years. Each year, members who reach these milestones are presented with a custom-designed pin acknowledging their years of continued support. It is with great pride that we recognize the following outstanding members who reached these milestones in 2022.

Together, these individuals have a combined total of 5,390 CMAA membership years—an unbelievable commitment! Congratulations to all.

Club Employee Demographic Assessment Open

The Club Employee Demographic Assessment, presented with support from The Club Foundation, will provide a baseline and snapshot of the demographics across the club industry. This three-year project will enable your club to benchmark your changing demographics over time.

According to the 2020 US Census, nearly four of 10 Americans identify with a race of ethnic group other than white. This is especially noteworthy for the younger portion of the population (16 & younger) identified as a racial or ethnic minority.

Diversity in the workplace means employing people of different ages, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds, and education levels.

We are asking for only one response per club. Participating in this assessment will allow you to gain insight into your team’s diversity and assist in formulating your own DEI strategy and tactics. Your information will be confidential.

Participation in this assessment will also provide data to help CMAA build education and resources to help clubs recruit and retain diverse talent, making it attractive for everyone to choose to work in clubs.
