Exam Dates, Joe Perdue Certification Review Course, and Exam Preparation
As we approach the fall season, eligible members will be looking to sit for the Certified Club Manager (CCM) Exam via the proctored exam or through attendance at the Joe Perdue Certification Review Course. For both options, preparation for taking the exam is crucial. Your members may have questions regarding the exam process. Let’s look at the process for sitting for the exam and tips for exam preparation.
The next two dates for proctoring the CCM Exam are August 11 and November 17. Members who have submitted a Certification Petition to the education department and meet the exam requirements are eligible to take the exam. They must submit an exam registration form at least two weeks prior to the exam date to allow the Education Department to set up the member for the exam and forward instructions for proctoring the exam to the testing center of the member’s choice. Once a member has submitted the exam registration form, the Education Department will create an invoice for the $200 exam fee.
Unfortunately, the Joe Perdue Certification Review Course is full for November 2025. The process for sitting for the exam at the Review Course is different from the proctored exam. There will be a week-long review by our instructors covering the 11 competencies in the exam. The exam will be administered at the end of the week. There is no need for the Review Course attendee to submit an exam registration form. The Education Department will contact those registered for the Review Course regarding their eligibility status.
How to Prepare
Whether they are sitting for a proctored exam or taking the review course, there are a few tips that you can provide for future CCM exam takers.
- Members should be using the Third Edition of Contemporary Club Management to prepare for the current version of the exam. Although CMAA is working on a revision of the current text, the new text will not be ready for exam takers this Fall. The current textbook can be accessed through CMAA Connect.
- Members should be reviewing their resources from the Business Management Institutes (BMIs) attended. These would include PowerPoint presentations from the programs. Content from the BMIs and said PowerPoints may be found on the exam.
For more information on registering for the CCM exam or taking the BMI Certification Review Course members can contact Sonya Peterbark, Manager of Certification and Education, at 703-739-9500.
