Chapter Management Resources

All Officers

It is approaching that time when you and your Chapter will decide who will serve as Chapter Officers and Chairs for the 2027 membership year. During your next Chapter meeting, have a member or two of your Chapter board get up and talk about what volunteering on the Chapter level means to them and to the Chapter. Offer to talk to any interested members after the meeting. Now is the time to get people involved.

Have your Chapter Officers/Chairs already been put in place for 2027? If so, please submit them to CMAA National Headquarters. All Chapter Officer/Chair Report Forms are due on December 1.

Managing Directors

The National Headquarters sent out the 2027 Membership renewal notices in early August. Please let your members know that they can save time and renew online. National renewals are due by October 31, 2026.

Advocacy/Legislative Chair: EPA Publishes Supplemental Waters of the US Rule

In early September, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in conjunction with the US Department of the Army issued a supplemental WOTUS proposal to further define which waters and wetlands fall under federal Clean Water Act jurisdiction. The proposal responds to stakeholder feedback by clarifying “perennial,” “relatively permanent,” and “continuous surface connection,” while replacing the prior “wet season” approach with the US Drought Monitor for drought-related exceptions. The rule would create a clearer compliance framework and could impact future permitting certainty and property management decisions. EPA is seeking public comment for 30 days, and CMAA plans to participate with golf industry allies in formal comments.

Career Services Chair: Fall into Coaching

Do you know about CMAA’s Coaching Program? Members have the unique opportunity to work with an executive coach throughout the year.

Coaching is a process that is designed to support and enhance the best efforts of the person that uses it. Coaches are being used by top performers in business throughout world. Coaching is not a process that is designed to fix someone who is broken. Those who aspire to be the best in any field of endeavor realize that they are often too close to see from the inside what someone else can see from the outside.

We are pleased that Kevin MacDonald and Shelley MacDougall of Clarity Success Coaching are on the CMAA team to bring coaching and its benefits to the membership of CMAA.

As Chapter leaders, you know better than most the impact that strong industry partners can have on Chapter success and on the professional growth of its members.

As we prepare for CMAA's 2027 World Conference & Club Business Expo in celebration of our Centennial, our goal is to fill the expo floor with companies that reflect the excellence, innovation, and commitment that have shaped our industry over the past 100 years.

Professional Development Chair: Lean into Leadership at the Mid-Management Conference

Time is running out to register and book your hotel for the 2026 Mid-Management Conference (MMC) in St. Louis, MO. Join CMAA October 18-21 for education designed especially for those who are not serving in the general manager/chief operating officer role.

This year, attendees will hear from speaker Angela Reed, Founder, The ABR Collective, in her session: Own Your Original: Lead Like Only You Can.

The most valuable asset a leader possesses is often the most overlooked: their unique originality. While authenticity is about being true to who you are, originality is about strategically leveraging your unique perspectives to drive influence and impact. This keynote session dives deep into the "secret sauce" that sets true leaders apart. Attendees will discover why self-awareness is the ultimate catalyst for showing up, and they will walk away with a practical roadmap to lead like only they can.
