Membership and Member Benefits

President & CEO’s Perspective: Exploring the Dues Increase

Hello CMAA members! I want to share my thoughts on member dues, specifically CMAA National dues. I know your clubs have seen costs rise with the dramatic jump in inflation. I suspect the vast majority of you have already implemented or are contemplating member dues increases. Last month the CMAA Board of Directors met, and one important area of focus was the FY2023 budget, which begins November 1, 2022. CMAA 2023 membership renewals were mailed earlier this month and, as you likely noted, Professional membership dues increased by $25 or about 3 percent.

How do I Transfer into a New Chapter?

If you have recently changed clubs or have an upcoming move in your future, you might find yourself within new chapter boundaries. Because CMAA membership is dual and simultaneous with your respective (geographically determined) chapter and CMAA National, it is necessary for you to transfer chapters. How is this done? CMAA has all the answers you will need.

Transferring chapters is simple:

Fill out the Chapter Transfer Request form and send it to the managing director or secretary of the chapter to which you are transferring. If you are unsure who this person is, call National Headquarters or visit the CMAA online member directory.

The chapter’s managing director or secretary will then get you set up with the chapter and will verify this by signing the bottom of the Chapter Transfer Request Form. He or she will then send the form to National Headquarters and to your previous chapter’s managing director or chapter secretary.

If you have been, or are about to be, on the move, don’t let us lose you! Tell us where you are going so that you will not only continue to receive all CMAA’s benefits and resources, but you can also be welcomed to your new chapter and be able to take advantage of all your local educational and social happenings.

Support Your Club Management Family with The Club Foundation

The Club Foundation’s Family Legacy Campaign is live! This campaign will run through September 15, and our goal is to reach $5,000. This is part of the larger story about our remarkable industry; we know that you and your teams regularly go to great lengths to take care of your members, but more importantly, you give that same caring dedication to members of your work family. Just like our personal families, we support and advocate for the success of everyone on our teams. We are looking to you to help us reach this goal and fund future scholarships at The Club Foundation—you can make a difference!

Every donation is important:

  • Create an online fundraising team of your own family or work family. Visit the Family Legacy Campaign page to get started.
  • Encourage others to donate by telling them about the campaign and the importance of families and work families in our industry.

If you have questions regarding this campaign, please complete our contact form or call us directly at 703-299-4284.

Deadline Extended: Submit Your Data to the 2022 Finance and Operations Survey

CMAA has extended the deadline for your club to participate in the 2022 CMAA Finance and Operations Survey. To allow for easy survey completion as well as customized reporting tools for you and your staff, the study is hosted and maintained by Industry Insights on the CMAA Research Portal.

Acting on your member feedback, CMAA has made participation easier than ever by providing clubs with the following options for participation:

  1. Complete the form online through the CMAA Research Portal&mbsp;or via an Excel form that may be completed offline then uploaded to the system when complete.
  2. Utilize our Excel-based Chart of Accounts template and upload an Excel version of your year-end Trial Balance.
  3. Transfer your trial balance data directly to CMAA Research Portal if you use Club software providers (Clubessential, Jonas, and Northstar).

For those clubs choosing to upload or transfer their trial balance data, CMAA again has engaged GGA Partners to map participating clubs' charts of accounts to the CMAA Finance and Operations form. More information about this service can be found in the CMAA Research Portal. This option significantly reduces the amount of time required to complete the survey.

As a participant, you will receive a complimentary copy of the full industry report plus an Individual Club Report, with your own club’s financial and operating statistics reported alongside the appropriate industry comparatives. Club Resource Center subscribers, who participate in the survey, will also receive access to an online portal for interactive industry comparatives.

If you have any questions, please contact Greg Manns at 614-389-2100 ext. 108 or Amilcar Davy, CMAA's Director of Research, at 703-739-9500.
