Please consider introducing one or more sessions. The process is simple. First, visit the Volunteer Page and look for the sessions that you are planning to attend. If you see a session that you would like to introduce, you just need to click on the “click here to reserve” link and enter your information. You will be sent a confirmation email with the session date, time, and room location listed. Playing Music at Your Club? Review Your Current Music Licensing

Music has always been an essential part of the club atmosphere, including live entertainment for events or background music provided by a subscription music service in your dining room or by the pool. However, the use of music programming requires a license and playing music at your club may be in violation of United State Copyright Law if you do so without obtaining the proper license. In the case of recorded music, the performance rights generally are owned by a performing rights organization. The three largest in the US include the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP); Broadcast Music Incorporated (BMI); and SESAC, Inc.

CMAA members benefit from discounts with two of the three music licensing organizations. BMI offers a benefit program that provides substantial discounts to CMAA members on music licensing costs. A five percent membership discount, when coupled with a five percent online payment discount, will allow clubs to save 10 percent on the cost of their BMI music license. BMI customer service representatives are available at 800-925-8451 or visit bmi.com.

CMAA has also negotiated on behalf of its members that clubs managed by CMAA members in good standing will receive a 15 percent discount off license fees for a SESAC Performance License. The SESAC Performance License runs on a calendar year basis and fees are based on the total number of club members. Visit sesac.com obtain a SESAC Performance License.

Learn more about music licensing or contact Melissa Low, CAE, Senior Director, Communications & Advocacy, at 703-739-9500.

Jonas Club Software Introduces Highly-Demanded Text Messaging Platform

Jonas Club Software, the award-winning club technology company, announces the launch of its new Text Messaging platform at the 2023 PGA Show. Integrated with the Jonas Club Software suite of applications, the new texting platform allows clubs to send various types of messages including booking and reservation confirmations and reminders, targeted marketing messages, and two-way chatting with members. This powerful platform also provides clubs with advanced segmentation tools to enhance member communications.

Text Messaging serves three main communication functions:

  • Reservations and booking confirmations and reminders
  • Marketing and event promotions
  • Two-way messaging with members

Using the List Management feature, clubs can segment their members by Member Type or Status for more targeted messages. It also allows them to use standard and custom fields from the member file to personalize text content.

“We’re excited to make this new platform available to our clients,” said Trevor Coughlan, Vice President of Marketing at Jonas Club Software. “Texting itself isn’t a new concept, but doing so in an integrated and automated manner, at a time when email fatigue is more prevalent than ever, provides an innovative new tool for our clients.”

Those interested can learn more about the new Integrated Texting solution by visiting the Jonas Club Software website. Visitors of the 2023 PGA Show can get an exclusive hands-on of the new Text Messaging platform at Jonas Club Software’s booth #3929.
