Chapter Leadership Resources: Tools for Success
CMAA’s Chapters are vibrant, thriving communities made possible by the dedication of Managing Directors and volunteer leaders like you. Thank you for the important role you play in helping our Chapters succeed and grow.
As you continue in your leadership role, we want to remind you that a variety of resources are available to support you. Whether you are looking for guidance, tools, or best practices, these resources are designed to help you lead effectively and make the most of your Chapter leadership experience.
- Chapter Management Resources: This section of CMAA’s website is the hub for all things Chapter management. It contains tools and resources that can assist in running your Chapter.
- Chapter Officer Position Descriptions and Resources: In this section of CMAA’s website, you can check out the description, duties, and additional resources available for each Chapter position. Take some time to look at your position description and make sure your Chapter’s leadership is doing the same.
- Blueprint for Chapter Success: The Blueprint for Chapter Success is a document designed to lead CMAA Chapter officers through a process of self-evaluation and goal setting. It is a tool that can be used every year as you plan for your Chapter’s success.
- Chapter Directory: Need to reach out to another Chapter? A good place to start is the Chapter Directory. It lists all Chapters, their main point of contact, and I link to their website if applicable.
- Chapter Leader FAQs: This resource provides answers to the most frequently asked questions that the CMAA National Headquarters team gets from Chapter leaders. Check it out to get your questions answered! If you have additional questions, please reach out to Erica Benjamin or Alanna Eckard for assistance.
- Chapter Digest: Last by certainly not least, Chapter Digest focuses on the skills and information necessary for successful Chapter operations and management. There is a timely tip or piece of information for each Chapter Officer to share with their Chapter members.
Earlier this month, CMAA hosted a Chapter Leader Connection and Resource Briefing Zoom meeting. It was great to see so many of you there! It was a huge success, and we plan to hold several every year. Please be on the lookout for future opportunities to connect with your fellow Chapter leaders.
CMAA staff are here to assist however we can. Thank you for the part you play in making CMAA’s Chapter network so special!

Chairs
Advocacy/Legislative Chair: Congress Revives Adoption of Permanent Daylight Savings Time
On May 21, the House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee passed a measure as part of a transportation funding bill that would make Daylight Savings Time (DST) permanent. The language mirrors the Sunshine Protection Act (HR139/S29), first introduced in 2025. It would make DST the new permanent standard time and end the semiannual clock adjustments—springing forward one hour each March and falling back one hour each November.
Career Services Chair: Look to CMAA's Job Boards to Help with Staffing Needs
If your member clubs have open positions, look at what MAA's website has to offer on its four job boards:
- Internships: Generally seasonal, but open year round. Add one or more opportunities at a club. This listing is free and runs for 12 weeks.
- Entry-Level Jobs: Hourly jobs in all departments of a club. This listing is free and runs for six weeks.
- Mid-Management Career Opportunities: Across all departments of a club, those positions that help staff to gain experience. This listing is open to all and has associated fees to post for six weeks.
- Managerial Openings List: Top tier positions on a member-only page. List where your job will be seen! Member login required, has associated fees and runs for six weeks.
If you have questions about any of these listing opportunities, contact Karen Woodie.
The Club Foundation Liaison: Club Foundation Scholarship Deadline Update
June 1 marked the application deadline for three student-focused programs offered by The Club Foundation, including the Joe Perdue Scholarship, the Student Chapter Grant, and the inaugural University of South Carolina Scholarship, inspired and initiated by The Tree Farm community.
